Hog Roast Torquay: Wedding Feasts Don’t Get Much Better Than This!

Wedding season at Hog Roast Torquay looks a lot like early starts, full diaries and the kind of busy that doesn’t feel like work because we genuinely love what we do. After more than 30 years of feeding happy couples across Torbay, you’d think the shine might wear off a little. It hasn’t. If anything, it gets better.

Last month was a good example of why. Millie and Sam had 115 guests coming to celebrate with them on the 23rd, and they’d trusted us to feed the lot of them. It might sound like a lot of pressure, but this is exactly what we do – it’s our bread and butter – so we showed up, fired up the spit and got to work.

The star of the show, as it often is, was the hog. And look, a hog roast lives or dies by its execution. Rush it and you end up with something dry and disappointing. Do it properly – low heat, plenty of time, no shortcuts – and you get meat that falls apart the moment you look at it, with crackling so blistered and crispy it practically crackles when it enters the room. That’s what Millie and Sam’s guests got. Sage and onion stuffing underneath soaked up all those roasting juices, and a big bowl of applesauce sat alongside because pork without apple is a decision we refuse to make. Soft rolls and wraps were stacked up for anyone wanting to do the full sandwich build – and most people did, more than once.

But a hog roast without proper sides is just… half a meal. So Hog Roast Torquay came loaded. Marinated chicken thighs, a tomato and mozzarella salad, coleslaw, mixed leaves and a mix of sweet potato and classic fries with sauces for dunking – the kind of spread where guests have to make actual decisions about what to dig into first.

The veggie and vegan guests weren’t left to fend for themselves either. Grilled vegetable kebabs with optional halloumi, flatbreads, tzatziki and a sweet chilli sauce that brought a proper little kick to proceedings.

Everybody ate well. Everybody was happy. And for Hog Roast Torquay, it was another one for the books.
