My name is Rik and I’m the Catering Manager here at Spitting Pig Torbay. Prior to achieving my ambition of running my own catering company, before hog roast Torbay, my career in the food industry has been vast and varied. Over a 29-year career, I have been privileged to work alongside some incredibly skilled chefs across the globe.
In addition to working in 5* hotels, two rosette fine dining restaurants and being involved in wedding and events catering, I have sailed the world catering on board the Qe2 and worked in awarding winning restaurants and provided private dining in the Cayman Islands.
My catering career has fuelled my love of traveling as well as food. I have visited 83 countries so far myself and my wife love trying the local produce wherever we go. My passion for superior ingredients is something that I take very seriously in my own hog roast catering business. I only ever select the finest locally sourced produce and make all of my food from scratch on-site.
My wide-ranging catering background has equipped me with an in-depth knowledge of catering for outdoor events of all sizes and styles in Torbay and I love the diversity of events that my team and I cater for here on the lovely southwest coast.
