When it comes to weddings, there’s no room for error. Zero. Zilch. Nada. It’s meant to be the happiest day of a couple’s life, so everything needs to run smoothly enough that they can actually relax and enjoy it rather than worry about logistics. That’s a job we don’t take lightly here at Hog Roast Torquay.
We’ve been doing wedding catering for over 30 years now, so we’ve seen it all – sudden rain that ruins the open-air plans, a venue that changes its mind two weeks out, you name it. Nothing rattles us anymore. Our job is to sort it quietly in the background so the couple never has to worry.
And a big part of how we manage potential issues is by just… not cutting it fine. We turn up hours before we need to, every single time, no matter the job. That gives us room to breathe, get set up properly and make sure the food’s hot and ready for serving by the time the guests arrive. It also means we’ve got time to plate things beautifully, because let’s face it, everyone eats with their eyes first – and these days, nobody’s digging in before they’ve snapped a photo.
That attention to detail is exactly what puts couples at ease from the get-go, and it’s what kept our most recent pair feeling calm right through to the big day. They couldn’t get over how effortless 
the whole experience was working with Hog Roast Torquay and are still raving about us weeks on.
Their wedding had 66 guests – so not quite a micro wedding, but not a huge one either – and they wanted food that matched that relaxed, in-between size. So, naturally, they went with the Southern Slow Roast. Texan beef brisket, Cajun chicken, a pulled quarter of minted lamb and grilled veg kebabs for the vegans. Add Greek salad, mac and cheese and a big mix of sweet potato and regular fries, and you’ve basically got comfort food dressed up for a special occasion.
Everything ran smoothly on the day. No hiccups, no scrambling. Just good food, a bit of banter from Hog Roast Torquay’s team while we served and a couple who genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves rather than stressing about the schedule. That’s really all we’re after – and days like that are the reason we keep doing this.
