After months of planning and no small amount of excitement, lovebirds Wendy and Phillip finally said “I do” on the 15th of August, surrounded by 60 of their closest friends and family. With a guest list that size, the whole day had a relaxed, intimate feel to it, which came through especially once it was time to eat.
Fitting the vibe of their venue perfectly, the couple went with Hog Roast Tavistock’s Alfresco Menu, giving guests a three-part spread that kicked off with our ever-popular antipasti grazing table. We filled every inch of it with artisan breads, cold cut meats including prosciutto, Parma ham and salami, a good mix of Italian cheeses from buffalo mozzarella and parmigiano through to gorgonzola, plus fresh fruit, dips and dressings scattered throughout. It set the tone nicely and guests gathered round almost immediately, like bees to honey, chatting about the ceremony while filling their plates.
A little while later, after guests had settled, Hog Roast Tavistock began carving and serving the hog roast with homemade sage and onion stuffing, crackling and applesauce, with rolls and wraps on offer for guests to help themselves. We also prepared grilled veggie kebabs and BBQ-pulled jackfruit sliders as an option for
non-meat-eating guests to enjoy, while heritage tomato and mozzarella salad, seasonal leaves, homemade coleslaw and roasted new potatoes gave every guest something delicious to add to the side of their plate.
With Hog Roast Tavistock handling the whole thing and keeping the food service running without a hitch, Wendy and Phillip got to actually enjoy their wedding rather than worry about it. They were especially thrilled with how everything looked (more than a few phones came out before anyone touched their plates), along with the quality of the food itself and how attentive our team stayed throughout, always ready to answer questions about allergies or offer a recommendation when needed.
Hog Roast Tavistock wrapped the whole thing up the best way we know how: with dessert. Light, fluffy cheesecakes and chocolate-drenched profiteroles brought the meal to a close and gave everyone just enough of a sugar boost to head straight for the dance floor.
