December didn’t tiptoe in this year – it burst through the door and Hog Roast Exeter was right in the middle of the excitement! We kicked things off in style after being invited to cater a corporate event for none other than Amazon. Yes, that Amazon. Their base on Werstan Road was buzzing with energy, and with 230 hungry guests expecting a feast by 9:45am, our catering manager Rik and the crew were on-site before sunrise, sleeves rolled up and ready to get cracking.
Now, most people know us for our beloved hog roasts (no shock there!). But every so often a client asks for something completely different – and we absolutely love those moments. Amazon wanted a bespoke menu that broke away from the usual, so Rik got to work planning something bold, warming and perfect for a chilly December morning.
The result? A Caribbean chicken curry that packed some serious flavour. Rich, gently spiced, and simmered until the chicken was tender, it was served with rice, peas and soft naan bread in handy disposable boxes. Honestly, it was the perfect set-up and saved people from juggling plates and cutlery.
And because Hog Roast Exeter makes sure no one gets left out, we created a gorgeous veggie and vegan-friendly vegetable curry too – complete with the same tasty sides. Every guest had a dish tailored to their needs, which always makes for a happier crowd.
Serving didn’t stop until 1:45pm – four solid hours of dishing, chatting, refilling and keeping the queue flowing. So, by the end, Rik and the team were ready for a well-earned nap but the smiles, compliments and empty boxes made every minute worth it. Moments like that are the reason we do what we do.
