Hog Roast Daccombe’s latest event was a very special party indeed. The team were hired by the client to put together a spectacular buffet for the 60 guests at Poppy’s 18th birthday party. However, the original plans for this event had to be scrapped when the Covid-19 safety measures were announced. The guest list was reduced to a more reasonable 25 people, meaning that all safety measures and government guidelines could be adhered to.
Hog Roast Daccombe put their best foot forwards and created a delicious buffet for the paired down guest list and bubbly birthday girl. Catering Manager Rik from the team was tasked with bringing together the birthday buffet on the big day.
He arrived at the private venue in Higher Oakshott several hours before the planned buffet serving time. The first thing he did was set up the catering equipment and gazebo, as every single dish was to be made fresh on site in the hours leading up to the serving time.
As part of the catering package the client paid for the Hog Roast Daccombe team provided not only the buffet and Catering Manager Rik to prepare and oversee the buffet, but also provided high quality china crockery and cutlery for the guests to use. These pieces of crockery and cutlery were taken away from the venue at the end o0f the catering element of the event by Rik alongside all the rubbish, which was later disposed of responsibly.
The menu for the buffet was one that had something for everyone. There was a Classic Hog Roast; which is a slow spit roasted pig served with crispy crackling, homemade stuffing and tasty apple sauce. However there were also vegan and vegetarian options available. There were big platters of grilled vegetable and halloumi platters as well as BBQ Pulled jackfruit. Rounding off the buffet was lots of soft gluten free rolls for the guests to tuck into.
Even though certain elements of the event had tom be altered due to the Covid-19 safety measures the event was a wonderful success. Birthday girl Poppy and her guests had a wonderful time partying together to celebrate her 18th birthday.
