When it comes to cooking pork, there are two methods to choose from: hog roast and BBQ. Both are favourited for their ability to create succulent, flavourful meat, but they differ in traditions and techniques,
So, what does a hog roast entail? Quite simply, a hog roast involves cooking a whole pig slowly over a spit, until it turns a delectable golden brown. The whole process takes around 6 hours and is carefully monitored, until the meat is super tender and ready to be served. A BBQ on the other hand, is slightly different – where the meat is cooked over a grill in smaller cuts, such as ribs, brisket or burgers, rather than a whole animal.
Before the pork is roasted as with the traditional hog roast, the pig is typically marinated which soaks into the skin before being placed over the open flame. Towards the last hour or so of cooking, the Hog Roast Galmpton chefs crank up the temperature to almost 220 degrees to achieve that delightful crunchy crackling. Meanwhile, a BBQ is smoked over a grill, which creates a completely different flavour to the hog roast and is cooked so that the meat falls directly over the bone, rather than sliced.
The good news is that when booking Hog Roast Galmpton , you can either opt to have a traditional hog roast feast or a BBQ, depending on your preference. This is because we have designed our very own machines which feature different attachments to achieve the texture and flavour that is desired.
The great news for those who stick to plant-based diets is that we can create delicious vegan and vegetarian alternatives that match the same level of satisfaction as our traditional meat offerings. We use the same meticulous approach to preparation and cooking, ensuring that our plant-based options are just as flavourful and enjoyable. If you have any dietary needs, simply let the Hog Roast Galmpton team know at the time of booking and we’ll make a note of your preferences.
