Slow Roasts & Big Celebrations: A Flavour-Packed 50th Birthday Bash at Lower Pudsham Farm!

Hog Roast AshburtonWhen the setting is a picturesque farm in the heart of Buckland in the Moor, and the occasion is a fabulous 50th birthday, you just know it’s going to be something special. And with Hog Roast Ashburton bringing our Southern Slow Roast menu to the party? Well, let’s just say the guests were in for a serious treat.

On a beautiful summer evening at Lower Pudsham Farm, we rolled up ready to feed 40 lucky partygoers with a feast that brought the bold flavours of the Deep South straight to Devon. Our catering manager Rik and the team served up a trio of mouthwatering slow-roasted meats, including our melt-in-your-mouth Texan 24-Hour Beef Brisket, Cajun Spiced Whole Roast Chickens, and smoky, tender BBQ Pork Butt. Each one seasoned to perfection and paired with a line-up of seriously moreish sauces – from our Smokey Sweet BBQ Glaze to the kick-you-in-the-pants Cajun Hot Pepper Sauce, and our ever-popular Hickory Bourbon BBQ Sauce.

The sides? Oh, we didn’t hold back. Guests helped themselves to heaps of roasted baby new potatoes, corn cobettes, seasonal green leaf salad, and our homemade gourmet coleslaw. It was the kind of spread that made people go back for seconds (and thirds – no judgement here).

Of course, we always look after our veggie and vegan guests too. Our grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers (or without halloumi for the plant-based crowd) were served in wraps with a zingy tzatziki and sweet chilli sauce, while our vegan pulled jackfruit buns – steeped in smoky BBQ sauce and topped with crunchy slaw – were a huge hit with meat-eaters and non-meat-eaters alike.

Every plate was served on eco-friendly bamboo crockery, with wooden cutlery and napkins – because flavour and sustainability go hand in hand.

From the first bite to the last toast, the vibe was relaxed, happy, and full of love – exactly what a milestone birthday should be. A huge thank you to our lovely hosts for letting Hog Roast Ashburton be part of this memorable evening. We had a blast – and judging by the empty plates and smiling faces, so did everyone else!
