There are few better ways to mark a stag do than with great company, seaside views, and a feast cooked to perfection. On 30th August, Catering Manager Rik and the team from Hog Roast Braunton had the pleasure of providing the food for Ash’s stag do in the beautiful coastal village of Croyde. With just 10 guests, this was an intimate celebration – but the menu was anything but small.
At the centre of the spread was our whole roasted pig, cooked low and slow until the meat was tender and juicy, and the crackling had that irresistible crunch everyone loves. Served alongside our classic sage and onion stuffing and sweet apple sauce, it was the ultimate centrepiece for a lively evening with friends. Guests had their choice of fresh bread rolls and wraps, with gluten free options available to make sure no one missed out on the fun.
To keep the menu fresh and balanced, Rik paired the hog roast with crisp mixed salad and our signature gourmet coleslaw. The sides brought colour and crunch to every plate and worked perfectly with the richness of the pork.
Of course, we also made sure that vegetarian and vegan guests were well catered for with our popular grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers. Served with wraps, a zesty tzatziki dip, and a punchy sweet chilli sauce, this dish always goes down a treat. And for vegans, we happily serve the skewers without halloumi, ensuring that everyone around the table has something equally delicious to enjoy.
Everything was presented buffet-style on eco-friendly wooden crockery and cutlery, keeping the atmosphere relaxed and easygoing – exactly the right fit for a stag do by the coast.
The evening was filled with laughter, storytelling, and plenty of food, with guests going back for seconds (and thirds!) until every last bite had been enjoyed. For Ash and his mates, the stag do wasn’t just about celebrating his upcoming wedding – it was about making memories over a meal that brought everyone together. And for us at Hog Roast Braunton, there’s no better way to be part of the party.
