Hog Roast Stoke Gabriel – The sailor’s life for me!

“Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside, oh I do like to be bedside the sea!” Hog Roast Stoke Gabriel’s catering manager Rik is lucky enough to live in a lovely part of the country, so does many events beside the sea or with the sea in view. This was true of Hog Roast Stoke Gabriel’s event on Saturday, he was stationed at Paignton Harbour, this is picturesque at the best of times but when the sunsets, it becomes an enchanting haven.

The lovely Vanessa was the organiser for Paignton sailing club. She had sorted a 3-day sailing event and annual meeting for the members. As a special treat on the final day, Vanessa had organised some great food from Hog Roast Stoke GabrHog Roast Stoke Gabrieliel.

Due to the hot weather, Rik found himself serving some rather sun-burnt sailors! These were all extremely hungry after an afternoon on the waves in the sunshine. Thankfully, they already started re-hydrating – what’s better than a cold pint of beer on a hot, sunny day?! Perhaps a cold pint of beer and a hog roast roll?!

As it was a sport event, Rik served 120 people. On offer was a succulent pulled pork and tasty stuffing roll with the option of crunchy crackling and a variety of sauces. Many opted for Rik’s speciality beetroot roll that has a purple colouring, the sailors were intrigued by its colour and thoroughly enjoyed it! Vanessa had requested accompanying salads to the roll as well therefore, many enjoyed a side of mixed salad and crunchy coleslaw, both prepared fresh on site.

A handful of vegetarians enjoyed grilled halloumi kebabs, best served in a wrap with a drizzle of sauce. Rik would highly recommend the sweet chilli option as the best one to compliment the cheese.

Great weather, great atmosphere, great food. A successful event with very happy sailors with full tummies!
